Phil Mitchell is a British author and screenwriter whose novels span crime, international thrillers, espionage, adventure and the supernatural. His stories are fast-moving and cinematic, built around strong characters, sharp dialogue and situations that rarely go according to plan. But long before Phil began writing novels, he had already accumulated enough experiences for several of them.

THE DAILY EXPRESS

Phil's working life began at just 15 years old at the Daily Express in Fleet Street. He went on to work alongside editorial and investigative journalists, searching archives and tracking down information for their stories.
Phil later served with the Royal Fusiliers and had the honour of taking part in the regiment's final march through the City of London with fixed bayonets.
In 1968, he attempted SAS selection. He didn't make it, but the experience and his military service gave him first-hand knowledge that would later bring authenticity to his action writing.

He subsequently spent 14 years as a paramedic in London. Away from work, life was rarely quiet. Phil raced Formula Ford, became a PADI Divemaster, travelled to the Philippines to dive with sharks and competed successfully in amateur golf in Europe.

FROM EXPERIENCE TO FICTION

Phil had been interested in storytelling since childhood, winning prizes for his stories at school. He later experimented with television scripts, including ideas around programmes such as Minder and Citizen Smith, before concentrating on his own original fiction.
His books have since taken readers from South London gangland to Africa, wartime Britain, Spain, the Caribbean and beyond.
They include Guildford Rock, Sorted, The Rhombus, Caroline's Ghost, The KC Legacy, Bad Ivory and other stories involving crime, MI5, the supernatural and even first contact.
Several have also been adapted by Phil into feature-film screenplays - yet to be picked up.
Throughout them all, Phil follows one simple rule:

Keep the story moving.

PETAR RNICH

Phil's friend and agent, actor Petar Rnich, was a tireless supporter of his writing and encouraged his ambitions for both books and film.
Petar's acting work included appearing as the helicopter pilot in Jason Statham's Mechanic: Resurrection.
He sadly died from throat cancer on 23 July 2017.
His friendship and belief in Phil's work have never been forgotten.

Phil is currently writing a new novel about a man in Thailand who is swindled out of his home.

What follows is a story of betrayal, revenge and survival — and ultimately, coming out the other side.
